What to Expect When Your Cybercab Arrives at Pickup

When your Cybercab arrives, a combination of lightbar colors, hazard lights, and license plate verification helps you confidently identify your vehicle and board quickly. The door opens automatically once the Cybercab detects your phone nearby, so have your device ready and your Robotaxi app open as you approach.

Watch for the Lightbars #

The rear lightbar illuminates red and the front lightbar changes to the color assigned to your specific ride. Open the Robotaxi app before you step outside to confirm which color is yours.

Confirm the License Plate #

Always verify that the license plate on the vehicle matches the plate shown in your Robotaxi app before approaching or entering. Never board a vehicle whose plate does not match.

Look for Hazard Lights #

The hazard lights flash while the Cybercab is parked at your pickup location. If hazard lights are not flashing, the vehicle is not yet in Park — wait until they begin flashing before approaching.

Approach and Let the Door Open #

Walk up to the Cybercab with your phone in hand. The door opens automatically once the Cybercab detects the ride requester’s phone nearby. The butterfly door swings outward and upward to welcome you in.

If the door does not open automatically, press the button on the window sill at the base of the B-pillar quarter applique (the trim panel just behind the door opening) to open it manually.

Do not attempt to pull or force a door open. Cybercab doors are motorized — forcing them can cause damage or injury. Always use the door button or touchscreen controls.

Override an Obstructed Door #

If the Cybercab detects an obstruction in the door’s path, the door will not open automatically or with a single press. Press and hold down the door button to override the obstruction detection and open the door.

Before holding the button to override, check that the obstruction is clear — a bag strap, a stroller, or a bystander too close to the vehicle can all trigger obstruction detection. Remove the obstruction when it is safe to do so before overriding.

Load the Trunk #

The Cybercab has a rear trunk only — there is no front trunk and the hood cannot be opened. Access the trunk before you enter the cabin while hazard lights are still flashing (confirming the vehicle is in Park).

Open the trunk using any of these methods:

Touchscreen — tap the trunk control on the touchscreen Robotaxi app — use the trunk control in the app Manual switch — press the switch located under the trunk exterior handle

Capacity #

Up to 220 lbs (100 kg) and 20.2 cubic feet (572 L) of storage space.

What Fits #

2 checked bags + 2 carry-ons 2 carry-ons + 2 golf bags 1 large folded stroller 1 small folded wheelchair

Your Cybercab waits up to 7 minutes at the pickup location. If you do not arrive within that window, the ride may be cancelled. Head to your pickup spot promptly after requesting your ride.
