Emergency Procedures and Safety Features in Cybercab

Learn how to stop a Cybercab ride, use the emergency mechanical door release, and what to do in dangerous or complete power-loss situations.

Cybercab is designed with multiple layers of safety, but knowing how to respond in an emergency is essential. Whether you need to stop the ride, release a door without power, or reach emergency services, the procedures below walk you through every scenario. Read this page before your first ride so you are prepared if something unexpected happens.

If you are in imminent danger, call 911 immediately — before contacting Robotaxi Support. Emergency services should always be your first call when there is a risk to life.

Stopping a Ride #

If your situation is not immediately life-threatening but you need the Cybercab to pull over, use any one of the following methods.

Tap the Pull Over button displayed on the touchscreen. Cybercab will stop on the side of the road as soon as it is safely able to do so.

Press the STOP button located between the two dome lights. This immediately initiates a pull-over and connects you to Robotaxi Support through the cabin’s built-in microphone and speakers.

Open the Robotaxi app on your phone and request a stop from within the active ride screen.

After Cybercab stops, a Robotaxi Support representative may reach out to check on you. You can speak with them directly through the cabin microphone and speakers.

On highways, pulling over may take longer than on surface streets. Cybercab will find the nearest safe location before stopping — it will not stop abruptly in a travel lane.

STOP Button (Interior) #

The physical STOP button is located between the two dome lights on the cabin ceiling. Pressing it triggers an immediate pull-over request and opens a direct line to Robotaxi Support via the cabin’s two-way communication system.

The STOP button is for emergency use only. Do not press it unless you need the vehicle to stop or require immediate assistance from Robotaxi Support.

Emergency Mechanical Door Release #

Every Cybercab door has an emergency mechanical release built into the door lever. Use this only when you are in immediate danger and normal door-opening methods are unavailable.

To activate the emergency mechanical release, pull the door lever firmly and completely upward. This action mechanically releases the door latch so you can push the door open, immediately ends the trip, and causes Cybercab to stop in its current lane as soon as safely possible.

Do not use the emergency mechanical release unless you are in immediate danger. Triggering it unexpectedly can cause accidents and puts you, other vehicle occupants, and people outside the vehicle at risk of serious injury or death.

On highways, pulling the door lever fully upward may initiate a controlled pull-over rather than an immediate stop in the lane. This is intentional — stopping abruptly at highway speed is more dangerous than finding a safe shoulder.

Wait for Cybercab to come to a complete stop before exiting, unless you are in immediate danger. Exiting a moving vehicle can result in serious injury or death.

Gently or partially lifting the door lever while a ride is in progress does not trigger the emergency release and does not stop the ride. The release requires a firm, complete upward pull.

Power Loss #

If Cybercab loses power completely, the mechanical door release still works without electrical power. To exit during a power loss, pull the door lever firmly and completely upward, push the door open and exit the vehicle, and note that both doors have independent mechanical releases — if one door is blocked or damaged, use the other.

Use the mechanical release only in an emergency or when Cybercab has no power. Triggering it unnecessarily may damage the window and/or door trim.

If the windows are fully rolled up and the vehicle has no power, the window glass may shatter when you pull the door lever. Turn your head away from the window before pulling the lever to protect yourself from broken glass.

If there is collision damage to the left or right front fenders, the door on the damaged side may not open safely. Use the undamaged door to exit whenever possible.

If the door struts are damaged, the butterfly doors may be heavier than normal and may not stay open on their own. Do not fully extend a damaged door. Hold the door firmly as you exit to prevent it from falling back on you.

Calling Emergency Services #

Always call 911 first if you are in imminent danger. Robotaxi Support is not a substitute for emergency services. Call 911, give your location, and then contact Robotaxi Support at (877) 798-3752 once emergency services have been notified.

After an early or emergency trip end, a Robotaxi Support representative may proactively reach out to you. You can communicate with them through the cabin’s built-in microphone and speakers without needing your phone.
